About the Artist

Artist Bio

After receiving her B.S. degree in horticulture from the University of Florida with an emphasis in natural science illustration, Lynda was employed as an illustrator at both the state and federal level.  Her art spans many genra including scientific publications, two Dover coloring books, murals, stained glass design and commissioned paintings.


After living in Florida for 30 years, Lynda now resides near Harrisonburg, Virginia, with her husband Craig, in their restored 1908 farmhouse. She enjoys working in their gardens which include vegetables, fruit and wildlife friendly perennials. Living in the Shenandoah Valley offers inspiration in her freelance art endeavors.

Exhibits

As a Signature Member of the Shenandoah Valley Watercolor Society, she continually exhibits at numerous local shows with SVWS, as well as the OASIS Gallery, in Harrisonburg, VA



Three of her 4' x 8' murals are featured at the University of Florida's Gulf Coast Research and Education Center, addressing variety development of fruits, vegetables and flowers.  Her art was also part of the Smithsonian Institution Travelling Exhibition Service, in association with the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators.


Recent Happenings

As a member of The Shenandoah Valley Watercolor Society, Lynda was part of the 2021 SVWS Member Show and received the Judge's 4th Place Award for her entry "Daylily". 

Current Community Projects

In February 2022, The Blue Ridge Free Clinic will be having Lynda paint new murals in two of their treatment rooms.  The "Apple Blossom" sketch seen here, is one of the paintings to be featured.   Lynda will be donating her services for this project.  As a member of the Shenandoah Valley Watercolor Society, she hopes to continue in a long line of partnerships between other community organizations and the SVWS.

Prints for Sale

The series "Summer" Perennials", "Spring Pollinators" and the "Central Shenandoah Valley Landscapes"  are all available as 5" x 7" folded, blank note cards at the EJC Arboretum, Education Center at James Madison University, Harrisonburg, VA.
